I see I have a lot of
responses from my friends. I understand....either you are are afraid,
because my being politically incorrect is unsafe, or you are
uncomfortable because I speak to subjects that seem like doom and gloom,
God, race, sexual preferences etc.
The reality is that I am
addressing hope. The answers are easy to find, we just find it hard to
look. This is all written about in the Bible! If we read Jeremiah 4
God says:
1 ¶ "If you will return, Israel," says Yahweh, "if you will return to me, and if you will put away your abominations out of my sight; then you shall not be removed;
2 and you shall swear, ‘As Yahweh lives,’ in truth, in justice, and in righteousness. The nations shall bless themselves in him, and in him shall they glory."
I
find it hard to look too. We can think of doing many things that seem
much more rewarding than reading the Bible. It is especially hard to
read the old testament, However, reality is crashing down around us,
and I find I must push through because what is happening is too scary to
ignore!
The bottom line regarding what is going on in the
US and in the world is not about race, but about man and God. This
country was given us by God. He gave us His word and it has gone out
throughout the entire world. We know what He wants, we don't want to do
it. We want to do what we want to do. That makes us want to judge, feel
victimized, and hate. We try to blame others, but we have only
ourselves to blame.
God sifted His people through every
nation and calls us regardless of color, race, size, sex, sexual
preference etc. God has called His people who are black, white, red,
yellow, male, female, old, young, and sinful. It is not about others, it
is about us!
It is that we indulge our sin that causes
others to judge us, see us as shallow, mindless, hypocrites. As
Christians they hate us, for in reality we stand for what we want, and
call it God. When I wrote about flash mobs, I wasn't addressing one
race against another, I was addressing the fact that as a country we
live in our sin, and have turned away from God. We stand for nothing
but self indulgence, greed, hatred, sex and violence. We don't want
other people to destroy us, yet in our selfishness we have become vile
and sick! Our illness needs destroying!
We don't care
about our own families much less people who look or act differently than
us. If someone says something we don't like, we follow the byline of
Timothy Leary ( a famous God hater) that says "tune in, turn on, and
drop out” We tune into what we want, turn on with our favorite coping
skills, and drop out of anything controversial. We are shallow
nothings, and have only nothing to talk about.
The result?
No one trusts anyone. Everyone thinks everyone else is out to get
them. We turn to the Gods of sports, drugs, alcohol, money, movies,
music, television, dance, gambling, sex, etc. We are sure science has
the answer, but if it does and it is truth, then why are we are losing
our sense of safety, and comfort?
We are suffering through
floods, fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, pestilence, upcoming famine. We
have become violent, fearful, isolated, stressed. We are losing jobs,
and find it hard to pay our bills. This is happening because we think we
know better and don't need God, or want God on our own terms. We say
we are more advanced than past generations, but I remember a gentler and
happier society when I was growing up and everyone acknowledged God.
Yes they had their problems, but they at least spent Sundays
acknowledging who God was and there was a fear of offending Him. At the
very least they recognized they were sinners and had a need for
confession of sins and knew of repentance. Today we say that no one has
the right to judge us and we can do what we want. This comes for the
abundance we have had in our society, and if you check history it always
comes to a sorrowful end.
We are not the first to do
this. This has happened before. It has happened to every generation
that has believed it has achieved without God, ignored what He tells us,
and throws Him out of the reality of our lives.
The
difference this time is that the whole world is populated. There is no
where to run and no where to set up a new civilization. We have a
United Nations, we are moving toward one language, one world government
and a one world leader.
Now you may think this is a good
thing, that we can overcome what God says and be powerful in and of
ourselves, but, as I said in the beginning. We don't read our Bibles!
This is all in there. This is all foretold. Jesus says when we see
these things, we know the end is near. Do we really think that God will
endure this forever? Or do we really believe that we can rise up
against God and overcome someone who created the entire universe? Maybe
we think that if we all reject God he will have to tolerate us, or we
can overwhelm Him. That is in the Bible too! He brought a flood and
destroyed almost all of us.
The answer? The Bible – Return to God, seek His face!
2Ch
7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble
themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways;
then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal
their land.
